day 8/9: home
every night of this roadtrip i’ve written the day’s events in a post and scheduled it to send the next morning, but the internet kept going out last night at the super 8 in wheeling, West Virginia, so now i am writing to you from the passenger seat as Ben drives. we are in the last few hours of this 9-day cross-country saga, and i feel… weird.
after a ten hour day on the road yesterday, my mom facetimed me. “what’s wrong? you seem a little sad.” i nodded, starting to cry. “oh… you know, i think i forget about the breakup part of this because i’m just so excited for you to be home.”
home. when i think of that word, my little house in oregon flashes in my mind, along with an apartment in philly i’ve only ever seen pictures of. in a few short hours, my dogs and i will be standing in that apartment, having traveled thousands of miles, through eleven states, over multiple mountain ranges. and we’ll be home.
there are signs of it already, of my old home that, after 14 years, is about to become my new home. the PA license plates on the PA turnpike, the rolling hills of the appalachias, dunkin donuts. i am almost there. i am almost home.
more tomorrow, with new apartment pics included 🖤
p.s. a pupdate for you! no more destruction or diarrhea from these two scruff potatoes. louie’s meds are working their magic, and this morning he had a normal poop!! hunter is being an incredibly supportive big sister… with the help of some heavy duty anxiety meds, of course.

See ya at the Hamburg, PA Starbucks (or Dunkin) in a bit! haha
you are SO brave! welcome back to the East Coast 🔥❤️🤓
